Hi, thanks for the great review, but I,m a little confused about using Polaris to set the telescope up. The instruction manual says to set your latitude first then all you need to do before switching on is point the telescope north.. Are both methods ok?

I don't know if the threading changed with the 2i or if I just can't translate the video visually to what I see in front of me, but to me it looks like he is doing the opposite. So, if you are here in 2023 and having this problem and nothing is working... Consider that you may be tightening it, not loosening it 😅 For me, I used a 3 mm Allen wrench to take off the middle portion of the assembly and with the clutch FACING me, used a c-clamp to rotate the black outer ring counter clockwise. That loosened it.

If anyone is worried about it being a tabletop, they all now have the ability to be attached to a tripod too with a 3/8 inch screw. It’s a great beginner telescope setup

I've had mine for a few years ( white and green model) but haven't really used it due to how bad this product is. I think it must be made by blind school kids in China as the components are shockingly bad. The clutch assembly on mine has about 3mm of play when the clutch is fully tightened. I would advise anyone looking to purchase one to look at other options.

So I have these questions. 1) How tall is the collapsed system in total? 2) Is the position of the focuser in the upper ring modifiable, ie to position it on the opposite side? 3) Does the power and precision of the motors on the two axes allow me to do high resolution planetary photography with good precision (tracking) and reliability? I just got the extension for my EQ6-R Pro. If I attach the plate real TIGHT to the bottom of the mount, I find I can’t use the azimuth adjustment screws. It appears in the video that the user tightens the knob under the plate that’s attached to the mount. If it’s tight, how can the mount turn for azimuth adjustment? Assuming I don’t tighten the white plate all the way onto the mount but leave a little play, so it’s possible to make azimuth adjustments after everything is installed.

Skywatcher are fantastic with their design to allow you to easily attach your camera to the scope and achieve focus.

This is a very nice mount that works well. I used it with a DSLR and solar filter. It keeps the Sun centered nicely. My main gripe is that much of the mount is black and this gets extremely hot in the Australian Sun. Sometimes the batteries are too hot to touch. Why would they make a Solar mount black? All their other mounts are mostly white. I solved the problem myself by removing the black cover and painting it glossy white. The mount stays perfectly cool now. Just some feedback for SkyWatcher. Please release this as an all white mount. Black gets too hot for some of us.

Now that’s a review. None of this 10 mins of someone opening a box. Someone who clearly knows what he is talking about. 👍

I've had people say that the upper screw that goes into the mount comes loose sometimes and when they have to take the whole thing apart to re-tighten the screw. Why isn't there a hole in both side of the extension so that you can tight the screw up if it comes loose.

My dobson telescope has a built-in Wi-Fi module, therefore the proper loader is: Windows program: Motor Controller Firmware Loader - WiFi, Version 1.79 But, I don't know what is the proper firmware for updating the motor controllers. There are several files on the Motor controllers page, but any of them talk about my DOB Goto 14" SynScan. Please, could you tell me what is the proper firmware? Thanks in advance

Hello! I have the same telescope (but the 12" version) and I've always had this doubt: have I to remove the white foam (about 5 mm tick) between the fix round base and the mobile round base? I have the feeling that it makes the telescope rotate badly but I have not found written anywhere that needs to be removed. Many thanks in advance!

if I had to sell such a telescope as a dealer, I would also make a video like this. Good video! Being the operator that I am, the video would look different for such a cheap telescope. But you can not have it all. if you have little money, then you have to live with compromises. If you have enough money, then spend more, otherwise you will be annoyed by the wobbly and cheap construction.
